Email sent from Wylie Supporter Club on Behalf of Nathan Burt:
Good Evening! I just wanted to send out a few reminders now that the majority of students have gotten their pigs. Boar Castration The boars in the barn will be castrated very soon, I am currently in contact with Dr. Wallis to set up a few days that he will come up to cut pigs. The following needs to be prepared for when Dr. Wallis comes to cut your pig.
Barn Guests Just a reminder that only Wylie ISD students with projects in the barn are allowed in the barn, along with their families. Under no circumstances are students not involved in FFA, or without projects in the barn allowed in the barn under any circumstances. Breeders may be allowed in the barn ONCE per month, with at least one-week prior notice to the species sponsor and that sponsor being present at the time the breeder is there. Failure to abide by these rules will result in a barn write-up. Jackpots If you are attending jackpots without the species sponsor, please notify that sponsor before you go to the jackpot. Upon returning from the jackpot, take your pig immediately to the wash rack and wash it. This will aide in the prevention of sickness that may have been brought from the jackpot being spread around the barn. If you are needing to use the supporter club trailer, remember to use the clipboard by the barn office to sign it out. We will have jackpots that we will attend as a pig show team in the coming future. I will send out a signup genius when those dates are confirmed. Weigh-ins We have started our bi-weekly weigh-ins on Thursday evening from 4:40-6:30PM. You will receive WSS points for attending weigh-ins. Please be in attendance to these weigh-ins, as you will be receiving feed advice for you pig. You must have your folder with your weight card filled out prior to weighing you pig. Here are the dates for weigh-ins, so you can plan accordingly:
Please be sure to sign up for the remind group if you have not already. This is the quickest way I’ll be sending out announcements for everyone to see. The code is: @wisdpig text this to 81010 to be added if you have not already. If anyone has any questions for any reason, please reach out to me. Nathan Burt Wylie East FFA Advisor

Good Morning – Our mandatory entry night is steadily approaching, so I wanted to send you a bit of information. The entry night will be this next Monday, October 25th and you will need to sign up for a time slot on the sign up genius listed below. Entry night will be held in Room 510(Ms. McAlisters Room) in the CTE Building at Wylie High School. The shows we attend are listed below with dates, however please keep in mind the ones that are marked terminal you will not be able to bring your animal home and they will go on the truck no matter what. Please know the students social security number upon arriving for the entry night, it will be needed for most forms. Also, if you know your quality counts number bring it with you so we can put it on your entry form. If you do not know it, we can look it up for you. Below is information on completing quality counts if you are brand new to showing or you were a Jr. Member that is now a Senior member. Everyone must have a quality counts number, and if you need help completing it please let me know. We are adding Ft. Worth this year, which was not done previously. This is what I call a “oversized jackpot/practice show”, it is really good practice to attend a major but is not terminal. I do recommend attending it if you plan on attending a major at all in your show career. If you have not signed up for a timeslot for Entry Night for Monday, October 25th please use the following link to sign up ASAP: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904044BABAB2BA7FA7-entry1 Important Show Dates: Collin County Livestock Show – January 12th – 13th(Show Days); January 15th(Ribbon Sale Day)

We will have copies of all of these entry forms at the entry night and will be able to help you with them, I just wanted to go ahead and send them out for those that wanted to fill them out prior to speed up the process. For each of the shows I will send out more information as they get closer with a list of what to bring, tentative schedule, etc. If you are new and need guidance, that is what I am here for and can answer any questions you have. I know this can be overwhelming and please know I am here to help! Thank you for all your hard work! Have a great weekend! J Megan Pruett, M.Ed. Agricultural Science Teacher Wylie FFA Advisor Wylie High School (972)429-3100 ext. 5510 The Wylie Show and Sale is putting on the Spooktacular Jackpot Show on October 30th. We will still be collecting Sponsorships for the next couple of days so if you know of anyone wanting to do one please have them email an Ag Teacher or give me their contact information. Just a few reminders about the jackpot. Wylie students cannot participate by showing in the jackpot and they are required to volunteer to work the jackpot. If you participate or do not assist with the jackpot, you are forfeiting eligibility to show at Wylie Show and Sale.
Good Afternoon!
Below is some important upcoming information to be aware about: SPIRIT WEAR Spirit Wear orders will be due this Sunday on October 3rd . We are encouraging all of the livestock show students to purchase the black WISD Show Team shirt. We would like everyone to wear these on move in day for livestock shows so we are easily identifiable, however they are not required. Go to SpiritWorx.com, click on Spirit Stores, enter the number 11896! SPOOKTACULAR JACKPOT SHOW The Wylie Show and Sale is putting on the Spooktacular Jackpot Show on October 30th. We will still be collecting Sponsorships for the next couple of days so if you know of anyone wanting to do one please have them email an Ag Teacher or give me their contact information. Just a few reminders about the jackpot: - Wylie students cannot participate by showing in the jackpot and they are required to volunteer to work the jackpot. If you participate or do not assist with the jackpot, you are forfeiting eligibility to show at Wylie Show and Sale. SHEEP/GOAT - WEIGH IN Our next sheep and goat weigh in will be during our fall break on October 14th from 3pm-5pm. Feeding advice will be given at this weigh in and a showmanship clinic will be provided. It is highly recommended that new students attend this weigh in, and Wylie Show and Sale points will be given to all that attend. ENTRY NIGHT Entry night will be on October 25th at Wylie High School in Ms. McAlister's room(510). This is where students will enter all of the stock shows for the year. I did want to clarify a few things on the sheep and goat side since there are some changes for this year – - This year we will be adding Ft. Worth to the list of shows. This is NOT a terminal show which means your animal can come back home, so any student planning to show at Wylie Show and Sale can attend if they choose to. Basically it is a large jackpot, but you can win some prize money if you place. It is a lot of fun, and would give experience at a major without being a terminal show. - The following shows are TERMINAL(animals will not come home) for sheep and goats – Houston, San Antonio & Wylie Show and Sale. - NON TERMINAL shows for sheep and goats are – Collin County Jr. Livestock Show and Ft. Worth. - Please bring cash or check to Entry Night to pay for entries. If you have questions about this or estimated cost please let me know and I can do my best to help you. NOVEMBER 6TH JACKPOT – SHEEP/GOATS – I will be hauling any students wanting to attend a jackpot show(practice show) who show sheep or goats through WISD on November 6th. It will be one in McKinney or Denison, but at this time it is still in the air. If you would like to attend please sign up on the Sign Up Genius listed below and I will send information as we have it available to that email. This would be a great first experience for those that have not shown before and is normally about $30 per animal. I will send out a Sign Up Genius for clip times as we get closer to the show. Please sign up by October 29th with the link below if you plan on attending. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904044BABAB2BA7FA7-nov6th AG AWARENESS DAY - Ag Awareness Day will be next Wednesday, October 6th. Thank you so much for your patience as I have navigated these past few weeks dealing with some family health issues. I have really appreciated all the gifts, food and prayers during all of this. It doesn’t go unnoticed and I am so thankful for each of you. However, I am hoping that next week we can get back to some sense of normalcy in the sheep and goat barn. I wanted to go ahead and give you some State Fair lamb and goat information, it is attached to this e-mail in a PDF document. Please carefully look over the important attached document if you are attending the State Fair lamb and/or goat show. It should have everything you need to know for the State Fair, but of course if you have questions please let us know! I will be at school tomorrow and sheep/goat shopping on Friday. I will be at the barn tomorrow morning to look at animals, please text or email me and let me know if you would like me to look at your animal for recommended feed changes. I will be looking at animals starting at around 8:30am, and will look at them through 1st and 2nd period during Practicum. Please let me know before then if you have any concerns with your animal, and I can take a look at that as well. Thank you! Megan Pruett, M.Ed.
